Daemmstoff Industrie Korea, formerly Handok Sangsa, was founded in 1982 in Joonggu, Donggwang-dong, Busan. In 1984, with the approval of the Minister of Finance for Foreign Investment, the company worked in collaboration with Daemmstoff Industrie GmbH Hamburg, located in Hamburg Germany. On June 1st, 1984, Daemmstoff Industrie Korea Ltd. was established as a foreign-invested company, Jangrim-2dong, Saha-gu, Busan. The company began supplying KVM Sealing Compound and MANGANA Retaining Compound to domestic and overseas shipyards, aiding the country’s import substitution policy.
In 1992, Daemmstoff Industrie Korea acquired the rights to produce KVM and MANGANA, transitioning from a foreign-invested company to a domestic corporation.
On February 28th 1988, Daemmstoff Industrie Korea Ltd. worked in collaboration with its sister company Aejin Corporation to develop two products: FIRE STOP SYSTEM A-119 and PANDA-90. The two companies merged in July 1st, 2003.
In 1992, DURASIN Chocking Compound was developed and underwent testing by the Korean Testing and Research Institute. The product received all formal approval from all major classification societies, and has been distributed internationally and domestically ever since.
DURASINBOND and DURASIN-T are two products which have been developed more recently. DURASINBOND was developed in 2018 as an adhesive commonly used for stern tubing. DURASIN-T was developed in 2021 to support LPG/LNC tankers.
In 1998, the DNV certification body assessed Daemmstoff Industrie Korea Ltd., and the company subsequently were given ISO 9001 certification.
